Area Descriptions and Maps


These descriptions are provided geographically from Spillimacheen in the north to Canal Flats in the south (see map)

Spillimacheen : Street Map Located halfway between Invermere and Golden, 13 km north of Brisco. With a population of 60, Spillimacheen is a refuge to those getting away from the city life and supports a significant arts community. With an economy largely based on farming and ranching, other services include a post office, gas station, caterer, contractors, retail and bookkeeping. The annual Spilli Chilli Cookoff is a favorite for locals and visitors alike.

Brisco : Street Map Located 27 km north of Edgewater and east of the Bugaboo Glacier Provincial Park. A permanent population of 160 residents saw the first settlers heading into the area in the 1800’s. The village’s main economic mainstay lies in forestry, Brisco Wood Preservers Ltd., and ranching. Amenities include a general store, post office, gas station, green houses and gardens, towing service, contractors, and photography. For the hiker enjoy the Lower Bugaboo Falls and Salmon Falls or mountain bike along the Westside Road and Giant Mine Road.

Spur Valley : 18 km north of Radium Hot Springs is the quiet and peaceful community of Spur Valley which includes both recreational and residential lots and cottages. Enjoy the new and challenging 18 hole golf course, fun for the whole family.

Edgewater Street Map A country community just 6 miles north of Radium Hot Springs with affordable housing, farms, hobby farms, and a farmers' market.  Enjoy a round at the Hilltop Par 3 golf course.

Radium Hot SpringsStreet Map Home of the world-renowned natural Hot Mineral Springs in the Kootenay National Park.  Radium offers the championship "The Springs" golf course, residential and recreational properties, golf course lots, condos and townhomes.

Radium Golf Resort: Street Map Just two kilometers south of Radium Hot Springs, this resort boasts 118 hotel rooms, the 18 hole "Radium Resort" golf course, indoor pool, health spa, massage, tennis, racquetball courts and more.  Residential and recreational properties, building lots, and condos are available.

Dry Gulch: Dry Gulch is situated at the foot of Redstreak Mountain on the eastern side of the Rocky Mountain Trench, shadowed by the peaks of the Stanford Range. You will find this quaint community a short drive south of Radium Hot Springs where you can enjoy hiking and camping in the Dry Gulch Provincial Park and Campground, fabulous antique shopping, family activities include Go-Karts, Mini Golf and horseback riding.

Juniper Heights: Close to the amenities of Invermere, just north of the crossroads, you will find a development of small private acreages with drilled wells.

Wilmer: Six kilometres northwest of Invermere, is a quiet and charming bedroom community of Invermere.

Larch Point: An exclusive lakeside development of 18 recreational residences adjacent to Invermere where you will find some of the most private waterfront properties on Lake Windermere.

Toby Benches: Located between Invermere and Panorama Mountain Village you will find a host of small acreages some with views of Toby Creek Canyon.

Panorama Mountain Village: Street Map Nestled in the ancient Purcell Mountains, Panorama Mountain Village has come of age in the Columbia Valley. Panorama has accommodations for 3,200 people and can employ a staff of as many as 550. Pedley Heights: This is a development of the approximately 50 remaining acres of vacant land located within the original, exclusive Baltac subdivision on the East side of Lake Windermere. Indian Beach: A lease development that is built on aboriginal lands located on the south side of Windermere. Enjoy the beautiful views, lakefront homes, beach, marina and tennis courts from this comfortable and relaxed location.

Fairmont Hot Springs: Street Map Enjoy Canada's largets natural odourless hot spring pools.  The resort has 140 room hotel, the unique Mountainside 18 hole golf course, the ski hill, spa, massage facilities, and conference centre. There are several subdivisions on the mountain side with residential homes, lots, condos, and timeshare villas.

Fairmont Meadows: Street Map For those who prefer a quiet and private area of large treed lots that is close to the amenities of Fairmont but with a rural feeling. Located on the west side of Fairmont this is where you will find some of the few riverfront properties on the Columbia River.

Fairmont Riverside Golf Estates: Street Map Mediterranean style world class development featuring the Riverside 18 hole golf course wrapped around the Columbia River, with clubhouse and driving range.  Condominiums, residential homes, building lots with river and mountain views, villas, recreation facility, and tennis courts.  There is a 6,200 foot paved airstrip capable of landing 727 style aircraft.

Rushmere: This primarily recreational development is located on the west side of Lake Windermere and is comprised of large lots allowing for RV’s and mobile homes, as well as cottages.

Dutch Creek: Street Map Enjoy this tranquil small rural community, established in 1979, nestled in the trees just a few minutes south of Fairmont Hot Springs. The community borders the Dutch Creek which offers fishing and is in close proximity to the famous bluffs known as the Hoodoos. Rising 400 feet straight up along the highway these spectacular bluffs change with each passing hour depending on how the sun and light are spotlighting them. Dutch Creek is the headland of the Columbia River and is the longest tributary to Columbia Lake.

Columere Park: Street Map A residential/recreational community of cottages and homes located at the north end of Columbia Lake with private access to a beach, marina, volleyball court and swimming area. The 10 mile long Columbia Lake is warm and ideal for all water sports. Adjacent to Coy's Ranch 9 hole par 3 golf course, a unique, fun, and challenging round of golf!

Columbia Ridge: Street Map  Columbia Ridge Country Estates is a single-family recreational subdivision located 8 minutes south of Fairmont Hot Springs on the beautiful Columbia Lake. All lots are serviced with underground water, power and telephone. Columbia Lake is the jewel of the Columbia Valley and being the headwaters of the Columbia River, it’s crystal blue water is ideal for all sorts of water sports from swimming and water skiing to fishing and sailing. With over half the shoreline crown land, the lake is quiet and pristine and is known to be warmer than Lake Windermere and 60% larger.

Canal Flats : Street Map This working forestry community has moderately priced residential homes suitable for retirement or recreation.  Canal Flats is nestled in the heart of the Kootenays halfway between Cranbrook to the south and Invermere to the north. It is a place where one can experience Rocky Mountain Bighorn sheep and deer roaming the streets. Canal Flats offers a variety of amenities, such as a public beach, arena, curling rink, golf course and parks.  This is the centre for great hunting and fishing, and home of "The Flats" 9 hole golf course.
